The Shin Bu Kan Dojo at Southampton is one member of a family of dojo that practice Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido and Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei Seitei no Gata.
Iaido is a Japanese martial art or budo, usually translated as 'the way of drawing the sword and cutting', although 'the way of being prepared' is more accurate. In Iaido the practitioner performs kata, or forms, using a Japanese sword.

The Shin Bu Kan was founded by Sensei Victor Cook, 7th Dan Renshi, in 1979 to promote Iaido and Jodo along traditional lines. The main dojo is located in Brighton, West Sussex. There are other Shin Bu Kan dojo's in Portsmouth, Rochester, Barnstable, and Torquay. Shin Bu Kan dojo's can also be found in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland.

The Southampton dojo started in 2001 and is led by Iain Mc Vinnie, 3rd Dan. There is one practice session per week:
